A 33-year-old driver, Saheed Olowolagba, who allegedly absconded with his employer’s goods worth N166, 000, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Olowolagba, who resides at No. 56, Coker St., Mushin, Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Emmaunel Ajayi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 23, at Coker Street, Mushin, Lagos.

He said that the accused was asked to deliver 51 cartons of evaporated milk to one Mr. Rafiu Otunla in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The accused, however, supplied the milk to another customer, collected the money, and ran-off with it.

“All efforts made by the complainant to get his money proved unsuccessful, as he refused to pick-up his calls.

“The accused was later arrested in Ibadan by the police,” he said.

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes a three-year jail term for offenders.

Olowolagba, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs. F. A Fatai, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 10 for mention.
