Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Port Harcourt Zonal Office have arrested 11 suspects accused of illegal oil bunkering in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the suspects were arrested based on intelligence obtained by the EFCC concerning their alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering.
The suspects are Adinadu Chinonso, Chinedu Okoh, Paul Ejiofo, Christian Nweke, Nnaji Chidinma, and Donatus Nnamani, who were arrested along NPA Road, Port Harcourt last Friday.
The other suspects including Francis Ezeakalam, Uchenna Asiegbu, Uchenna Okah, Ibrahim Olapade and Ndidi Akuneho were arrested at the same location on Sunday.
Items recovered from the suspects include three unregistered Mack trucks, one Volkswagen bus and one Nissan car.
“The trucks were fully loaded with products suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil, while the remaining two vehicles were loaded with cellophane bags containing same products.
“The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,” EFCC said in the statement.
