Ekweozor clears air on ANLCA comment

Tin Can Island Chairman of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Austin Ekweozor has said that his recent statement on the 10 percent total revenue requested by the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) was not said in bad faith.

Ekweozor in a statement sent to SHIPS &PORTS DAILY yesterday said the statement was not made to tarnish the image of the national leadership of ANLCA or that of the association.

He said, “The statement was not my intention to tarnish the image of the National leadership of ANLCA as the relationship that exists between NAGAFF and ANLCA Tin Can Island port has shown that we share the same ideology.

“I am a man of peace and I believe in the unity of agents. I meant well for the good of the associations within and outside the Nigerian port.”

Ekweozor said he is out to make peace with all stakeholders especially rival association for the good of everyone working at the port.

“I am out for peace and have always been preaching unity and growth since I came into office. I have been preaching peace even with other associations including ANLCA which I cherish so much. We have been working together peacefully and will still continue to work towards the growth of TCIP.

“We do sincerely apologies for any inconvenience the publication might have cost especially relationship between the two associations,” he stated.

It would be recalled that Ekweozor had last week dissociated NAGAFF from the call by ANLCA for allocation of 10 percent of the total revenue collected by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) to clearing agents.
