EXCLUSIVE: NPA promotes 26 Principal Managers to AGMs, as facts emerge on London rep position 

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hajia Hadiza Usman has approved the elevation of 26 Principal Managers of the agency to Assistants General Manager. This is even as SHIPS & PORTS DAILY investigation reveals that contrary to speculations in a section of the media, Mrs Akinbayo C. O. and Ephraim Okon who were on Friday appointed to head the NPA London Office as Acting General Manager and the agency’s Abuja liaison office as Asst. General Manager respectively, are not the first southerners to hold the positions.
Our investigation revealed that at least three southerners have served at different times as NPA London representatives while three others have also served as  Head of the agency’s Abuja Liaison Office.
The southerners who have served as London rep include Engr.  Olufemi Aina (1986 – 1989); Bernard Koshoni (1991) and Emmanuel Ayika (2011 – 2012); while those who have served as Head of the Abuja Liaison Office include Mrs. Aderemi Adeyemo (1999 – 2001); Dr. Ken Imachukwu (2001 – 2002) and Chris Abiodun Borha (2012).
On the new promotions, an internal memorandum with reference number MD/13/MCORRECS/VOL.XX/275 dated 26th August, 2016, a copy of which was exclusively obtained by SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, stated that the Principal Managers promoted to the position of Assistants General Manager include Isa Suwaid of the Public Affairs Department, Western Ports; Yakubu Nana Asmau and Oyinlola Oluyemisi, both of the Legal Depratment; Dr. (Mrs.) Osakwe Margaret (Medical); Akpa Christiana Ekwutos (Pharmacy); Engr. Wada Musa Atayi (Civil Engineering); Engr Ajibola Sylvester Olagoke (Electrical Engineering); Engr Orji Chukwu Nnadi (Civil Engineering) and Mrs. Ibrahim Aisha Ali (Traffic).
Also promoted were Aliyu Mohammed Alfa (Personnel); Engr. Nwankwo Sylvanus (Civil Engineering); Ahmad M. Umar (Accounts); Odunsi Opeoluwa Alfred (Accounts); Noah Mathew Alaba (Traffic); Engr. Odoh Anslem Everistus (Dockyard); Abowh Patricia Alero (Training); Bello Hadiza Ahmadu (Admin); Abdulrahman Lamina (Commercial) and Ezeoke Eunice Ngozi (Operations/Port Manager Lagos Port Complex)
The others are Engr. Ogundele Oluseyi (Calabar Port); Engr. Ngini Chukwuma (Utilities); Engr. Omiwole Olukayode (HSE); Obikili Ngozi Stella (HSE) and Yusuf Lawal (Audit).
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with SHIPS & PORTS DAILY on condition of anonymity thanked the NPA Managing Director for approving their promotion, which was said to be “long overdue”.
