The National President , Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics Nigeria (CILT), Major-Gen. Umar Usman (rtd), that the global market requires a new kind of transportation and logistics system.
Usman said that it is increasing obvious that national development no longer depends solely on ways which production sector operate, but also on the ability to distribute products rapidly and effectively to national and international markets.
He made these assertions in his welcome address at the CILT 2013 National Conference and Annual General Meeting held last Saturday in Lagos, and had as its theme Strengthening the transport Chain through effective Rail transportation.

Sijuwade said that, without a well-developed transportation system, the supply chain could not deliver its full advantages, noting that a good transport system in logistics activities could provide better logistics efficiently, reduce operation cost, and promote quality service.
The event witnessed the induction of three chartered fellows, 38 chartered members, and 19 members.
While 25 students graduated from the international advanced diploma courses, 27 students graduated from international diploma courses, with the CILT National President urging them to be of good behaviour and also contribute positively in the transport sector.
