Indian port workers set for strike

Indian dockworkers are set to walk off their jobs at 11 major ports including Kandla and Nhava Sheva after August 18 in protest against the country’s government’s policies to reform the National Port Trusts Act 1963.

The workers are also kicking against the proposed Major Port Authorities Act 2016, which the labor unions think would lead to privatization and result in layoff of dockworkers.
