The kidnappers who abducted Margaret Emefiele, wife of Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, have reportedly demanded for N1.5billion for her release, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.
Mrs. Emefiele was abducted on Thursday along the Benin-Agbor Road and her captors have reportedly been in communication with the CBN Governor.
SHIPS & PORTS learned that in addition to Mrs. Emefiele, four other people were abducted including two other females, a male, and her driver.
It has also been learned that Mrs. Emefiele had a four-man police detail attached to her. However, when the police were confronted with the superior firepower of the kidnappers they reportedly ran away, leaving her and the other victims in the hands of the criminals.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris has deployed a Special Force Unit and an Intelligence Response Team to Edo State to rescue the victim.
