A 22-year-old man, identified as Kazeem Jimoh, was on Thursday brought before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly dragging the steering with the truck driver and stealing the driver’s wallet containing the original documents of the truck.
Jimoh is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and intention to cause accident.
The prosecutor, Inspector Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 11, 2019 at about 5:20pm at Abule Oshun in Ojo, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired with one other at large to steal a wallet containing BUA identity card, driver’s licence and the original document of the truck,” Obongha said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner that could cause accident by dragging the steering of the truck driver with intention to damage the truck with registration number SMK 916 XN property of BUA Company Limited.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 337 of the Criminal Law Lagos State of Nigeria.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate L.O Kazeem granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till October 2, 2019 for mention.
