Police arraign man for stealing N.2m motorcycle

The police on Thursday arraigned a 20-year-old man, Usman Mohammed, before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Honda motorcycle valued at N200,000 in Lagos.

Mohammmed is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Koladed Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 6, 2019 at 8pm at Tiv Line, Alaba Rago, Ojo, Lagos.

“The defendant stole one Honda motorcycle with registration number APP 745 KH valued at N200,000 property of one Sarkidaji Abubakar,” Tedunjaye said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.

Magistrate M.B Amore granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till October 21, 2019 for mention.
