Police arraign man for stealing generator, air conditioner

The police on Tuesday arraigned one Prince Francis (37) before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one generator set and one air conditioner belonging to a pastor in Festac Town, Lagos.

Francis is facing a one-count charge of stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 3, 2020 at about 6:45am at 6th Avenue, Ile Adura Moses Arimolade Tiwolase Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendant stole one 7.5KVA generator set and one 2HP air conditioner totalling N500,000 properties of one Baba Aladura Samuel Ademola Ajakaye,” Babatope said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Enitan Ojudun granted the defendant N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till January 16, 2020 for mention.
