Man allegedly steals N30,000 phone in Apapa

A 21-year-old man, identified as Muri Abayomi, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N30,000 phone in Apapa.

Abayomi is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 3, 2019 at about 7am at Alaba Oro, Ajegunle, Apapa.

“The defendant stole one Tecno handset valued at N30,000 from one Success Oghonogho,” Onaiwu said.

According to her, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate O.S Abioye granted him N20,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till October 16, 2019 for mention.
