Man assaults motorcyclist over ticket pass in Apapa

A 25-year-old man identified as Mohammed Nojeem was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a motorcyclist, popularly known as Okada rider.

Nojeem is facing a one-count charge of assault.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 30, 2019 at about 4:45pm at Isikalu Junction, Wilmer Crescent, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant unlawfully assaulted one Ismaila Mohammed by hitting him with a stick on his left hand and caused him serious harm,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offence is punishable under section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate R.E Ojudun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the matter till May 13, 2019 for mention.
