A 37-year-old man, identified as Emedege Ikechukwu, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly attempting to steal marine fender tube in Apapa.
Ikechukwu is facing a one-count charge of attempting to commit felony.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 10, 2019 at about 3pm at Magbesa Street, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.
“The defendant attempted to commit felony by being in possession of suspected stolen marine fender tube of which he failed to give reasonable account,” Ekpo said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till August 14, 2019 for mention.
