A 34-year-old man identified as Daniel Adedeji was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for falsely claiming to be a staff of an haulage company in Apapa.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 9, 2019 at about 7:50am at No 6, Alhaji Kadiri Street, Olodi-Apapa.
“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by forcing himself to write his name on the workers’ attendance register of High Turnage Investment Limited, when he is not their staff, ” Ekpo said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Adedeji, who is facing a one-count charge bordering on breach of peace, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till May 13, 2019 for mention.
