A 37-year-old man, identified as Patrick Ocheme Michael, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly impersonating as a member of the Federal Government Task Force on the Apapa gridlock headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Michael is facing a one-count charge of impersonation.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 18, 2019 at about 1pm at Wharf Road, Apapa.
“The defendant impersonated to be a member of Federal Task Force representing Beta Transport Company Limited,” Bassey said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 78(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate A.S Okubule granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
One of the sureties should be a blood relative to the defendant.
She adjourned the case till September 16, 2019 for mention.
