A 45-year-old man, Lucky Nelson, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly swindling a job seeker of N230,000 in Lagos.

Nelson is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, false pretence and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 10, 2019 at about 2pm at Mile 2 bus stop, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired to obtain the cash sum of N230,000 from one Chidinma Rejoice with the pretence of securing a job for her, a representation which he knew to be false,” Salami said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Rasheedat Williams-Isichei granted him N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

One of the sureties should be a blood relative to the defendant.

She adjourned the matter till August 28, 2019 for mention.
