A 24-year-old man, Oloyede Monsuru, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one unregistered motorcycle belonging to a dispatch rider in Apapa.
Monsuru, who claims to work in an aluminium company, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 3, 2020 at about 2am at Rasaki Street, Amukoko, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one unregistered Day Long motorcycle red in colour valued at N125,000 property f one Johnson Caleb,” Ekpo said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till February 5, 2020 for mention.
