Two men plead guilty to stealing phones, cash

Two men namely, Ahmed Ramon (25) and Taofeek Abayomi (24), on Friday pleaded guilty to stealing N66,000 phones, cash sum of N50,000 and other personal belongings before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court.

The duo is facing a six-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 22, 2019 at about 4am at No 31a, Aro Street, Amukoko, Apapa.

“The defendants conspired with others at large to break and enter the residence of one Lateef Asuruamu and three others with intent to steal one Siccoo phone valued at N3,500, cash sum of N50,000, one First Bank ATM card and one working identification card belonging to one Lateef Asuruamu,” Esebamen said.

The prosecutor also said that the defendants stole two Iphone 4 and 5 phones both valued at N45,000 property of one Maleek Afinni.

Esebamen added that the defendants stole one Tecno phone valued at N6,500 property of one Oluwaseun Abayomi and also stole one Gionee phone valued at N8,000 and one Sicco phone valued at N3,000 property of one Samuel Bamgboye.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 308(2) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Aisha Shittabey adjourned the case till August 30, 2019 for facts and sentence.
