A 26-year-old man, Ajibola Kunle, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing two vehicle batteries at Mile 2 area of Lagos State.
Kunle is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Ferdinand Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 20, 2019 at about 6pm at Mile 2, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal two vehicle batteries valued at N200,000 property of one Yah-Salaw,” Asu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate M.O Olubi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be gainfully employed. They are required to provide proof of relationship with the defendant and furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till March 9, 2020 for mention.
