Man pleads guilty to robbing truck manager

Fake travel agent docked for N265,000 visa fraud

A 45-year-old man, identified as James Israel, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N300,000 from one truck manager.

Israel is facing a two-count charge bordering on false pretense and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyabosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 10, 2018 at about 10am at Satellite Town, Lagos.

“The defendant did obtain the cash sum of N300,000 from one Rita Obioma with the pretence of refunding it within a month, a representation he knew to be false,” Onaiwu said.

The prosecutor added that the defendant stole the sum of N300,000 property of one Rita Obioma.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 315(i) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate, O.S Abioye adjourned the matter till December 20, 2018 for facts and sentence.
