A 30-year-old man, identified as Abu Saidu, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly stealing five units of air conditioners belonging to Customs agent named Godday Ebinum.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbonna, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 17, 2018 at about 4:30am at no 14, Payne Crescent, Apapa.
Ogbonna said the defendant stole five units of air conditioners valued at N325,000 from Ebinum.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.
In her ruling, Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till February 20, 2018 for mention.
