Man steals N150,000 phone in Lagos

A 30-year-old man, identified as Muazu Wahab, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Samsung S75 phone valued at N150,000 in Lagos.

Wahab is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Austine Ejembi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 13, 2019 at about 2pm at 21, Road ‘E’ Close House 14, Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendant stole one Samsung S75 phone valued at N150,000 property of one Remi Olukoya,” Ejembi said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Ayisha Grillo granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one reliable surety.

The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till July 31, 2019 for mention.
