A 56-year-old man, identified as Odekun Adeleye was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing electric cable wire belonging to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at Tin-Can Island, Apapa.
Adeleye is facing a two-count
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 23, 2018 at about 5am at Marketing Hall, Tin-Can Island Port, Apapa.
He said, “The accused trespassed into NPA premises and was found in possession of a roll of electric cable wire suspected to have been stolen.”
Esebamen added that when one Okoro Chidi Peter, an NPA security officer, asked Adeleye to give account of the wire; he was not able to give reasonable account of it.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 168 (1h) and 329 (1c) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

In his ruling, Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni adjourned the case till March 29, 2018 for facts and sentence.
