Motorboy, two others steal police officer’s phone, cash

A motorboy and two others were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a police officer’s mobile phone and cash in Lagos.

The motorboy, Ope Owolabi (22) and two others identified as Adebayo Sunday (18) and Oyelekan Taoreed (18) are facing a five-count charge of conspiracy, bulglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on September 3, 2019 between 2am and 4am at No 1, Ogunlade Street, Amukoko, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired to break and enter the residence of one Mukaila Badmus and two others with intent to commit felony. The defendants stole one Tecno phone valued at N6,000 and two wrist watches both valued at N12,000. Total valued at N18,000 property of one Mukaila Badmus,” Salami said.

The prosecutor also said the defendants stole one Infinix phone valued at N63,000 and physical cash of N260,000 withdrawn from his account. Total value is N323,000 property of one Badmus Quadri.

Salami added that the defendants stole one Tecno WX3 phone valued at N30,000, Zet phone valued at N4,000 and physical cash of N40,000. Total valued at N74,000 property of one Corporal Keke Josephat.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 308(2), and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendants pleaded guilty to all the charges against them.

Magistrate Rasheedat Williams-Isichei adjourned the case till September 17, 2019 for facts and sentence.
