A musician, Anthony Aneka, who allegedly gripped the uniform of a security officer, Isyaku Suleman, while on duty appeared before an Apapa Magistrate Court, Lagos on Friday.
Anthony, 22, who is facing a two-count charge of assault and causing breach of peace, is a resident of Apapa in Lagos. His counsel, K.C. Eboh, prayed the court to grant his client bail in liberal terms.
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant, who entered a not-guilty plea, committed the offences on 13th December 2016 at Railway Loco Train Workshop in Apapa.
Alexander said that the defendant assaulted the security officer, Isyaku Suleman, by gripping him and his uniform while on official duty.
He also said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 172 (e) and 166 (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr. T.A Babalola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000.00 with one surety.
He also ordered that the surety must show proof of identity and a letter of recommendation from a clergy, imam or community leader.
He adjourned the case till January 12, 2017 for hearing.
