Senior Partner of Akabogu & Associates, Dr Emeka Akabogu has described the Maritime Workers Union (MWUN) as the envy of other labour unions in the country.
He made this known when he led a group of lawyers on a courtesy visit to MWUN secretariat at Olodi Apapa, Lagos.
Akagbobu said the purpose of the visit was to find a common ground for collaboration and partnership between the union and his law firm in order to have a more harmonious operational environment between employees and employers, more fruitful engagement with governments, stakeholders and maritime sector.
He commended the President-General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju for the peace and pragmatic decisions taken towards repositioning the union for a progressive advancement among dockworkers since his emergence as the leader as against the past when crisis was the order of the day.
In response, Comrade Adeyanju expressed appreciation to Akabogu for his involvement in dissecting issues arising in the maritime industry in relation to labour matters.
He promised that the union will collaborate with the law firm to proffer solutions and render necessary assistance towards some of the challenges confronting it.
