As the race for election into different chapters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) builds up, candidates have intensified their campaigns by mobilizing and seeking support from members of the association in their various chapters.
Caretaker committee Chairman of the Tin Can Island Chapter of NAGAFF who wants to contest as a substantive chairman, Chief Azubike Ekweozor, met with members of his community to inform them about his chairmanship ambition on Wednesday.
“The essence of the gathering is not much because I believe charity begins at home hence my decision to run for the chairman of Tin Can island Port. So I decide to make it known to my people which is to bring them along in order to support me,” he said even as he claimed that the success he achieved as a caretaker committee chairman of the association has positioned him as the candidate to beat.
Ekweozor said: “With the level transformation that has happened in Tin Can Chapter of the association since my takeover of the association in September 2013, I know that the people will not regret voting me into power as the chairman.
“Before I came as the caretaker chairman, the chapter was messed up by the dissolved executive. When I came, I repositioned the association, stabilised things because I knew I was called upon to rescue a dying mission. So immediately I resumed office, I introduced human relationship in the association and also let people know that the relationship between agents and customs officers should be like that of a husband and wife.”
