The NIFF President, Dr. Zeb Ikokide, said this in his welcome speech at the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Training Programme for registered freight forwarders held recently in Apapa, Lagos.
The major responsibility of NIFF, according to Ikokide, is to ensure that registered freight forwarders are provided with the structure to acquire necessary practical competencies to operate in a freight forwarding environment.
He said that for this purpose the institute, on a quaretrly basis, organises a Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme on the authority of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), to give freight forwarders the practical abilities required to launch a career in the industry.
“By combining the strategic abilities acquired in their academic studies with the practical freight forwarding competencies acquired through this programme, such individuals will be able to manage a high range of freight forwarding functions. They will also be able to add value to the strategic planning required to build on the freight forwarders core functions in crating structures which will provide customers with the integrated management of international supply chains they will need,” the NIFF President stated.
He said that the programme would also enable freight forwarders fulfill the pre-requisite for the issuance and renewal of their practicing license with CRFFN.
