Unidentified militants in the Niger Delta have blown up a crude oil trunk line in Ughelli, Delta State, barely 24 hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led a Federal Government delegation to the region.

Osinbajo had on Monday began tour of the Niger Delta region in a bid to usher in lasting peace in the troubled region.

On Monday, the vice president was in Delta State where he held a meeting with traditional rulers with the objective of finding lasting peace in the region.

It was not clear which militant group carried out the attack on the pipeline, but it signifies a bad omen for the region as the federal government is striving to end militancy in the area.
