Nigerian Navy Ship Arrests 8 Suspected Stowaways

Nigeria Immigration Service nabs 5 stowaways in Lagos 

 

The Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Beecroft, has apprehended eight individuals suspected of attempted stowaway on a vessel named MV Northernlight while it was underway along Lagos channel.

The navy has handed over the suspects and speedboats to the Nigerian Immigration Service for further investigation.

Additionally, the Navy said it has rescued eight female victims of human trafficking and two fishermen, and foiled a sea robbery attempt.

Nigerian Navy’s Director of Information, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, said in a statement that the victims have been handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further care, while investigation is ongoing.
