The Nigerian Navy has disowned a recruitment notice circulating on social media purportedly announcing its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise, describing it as unauthorised and urging the public to disregard it.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Director of Naval Information, Capt Abiodun Folorunsho, said the notice was not an official publication of the Nigerian Navy and should be ignored.
The Navy urged prospective applicants to be wary of recruitment information shared through unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised platforms.
It said official information on recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and recruitment categories, would be communicated only through authorised Nigerian Navy channels.
It also warned members of the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free of charge.
“No third party has been authorised to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on behalf of the Nigerian Navy,” the statement said.
The Navy said it remained committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels.
