Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases hit 5,959

Nigeria records highest single day Coronavirus cases of 381

 

Nigeria on Sunday recorded 338 new cases of COVID-19 infections, taking the total number of infections of the deadly virus to 5,959.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which disclosed this on its twitter handle late last night, said Lagos recorded 177 new infections, Kano 64 and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, 21.

Also, Rivers recorded 16 new cases; Plateau, 14; Oyo, 11; Katsina, nine cases; Jigawa and Kaduna, four cases each, while Abia, Bauchi and Borno have three cases each. Others are: Gombe, Akwa Ibom and Delta recording two cases each while Ondo, Kebbi and Sokoto have one case each.

NCDC also reported six fatalities as a result of the infection on Sunday, taking the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country to 182.

NCDC said a total of 1,594 of those infected have recovered and have been discharged.
