NIMASA Director Walked Out of Reps Public Hearing

The House of Representatives Committee on Federal Character walked out the Director of Administration and Human Resources of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Isichie Osamgbi, who represented the Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, at a public hearing on Wednesday.

The committee also summoned Mobereola to appear in person on July 30, after he failed to attend the investigative hearing on alleged lopsided employment in the agency.

Committee Chairman, Ahmed Wase, expressed displeasure at Mobereola’s absence and demanded his personal appearance, stating that the Director General had not shown regard for the lawmakers.

Osamgbi, however, pleaded with the committee to accept his representation, explaining that the Director General was away on a national assignment and would be willing to appear on the next appointed date.

The committee, however, insisted that Mobereola must appear in person, citing the importance of his presence in answering questions that his representative may not be able to respond to adequately.

The summon comes amidst an investigation into alleged lopsided employment in NIMASA, with the committee determined to get to the bottom of the matter.
