Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Navy (NN) have firmly resolved to work together to ensure the safety and security of lives on property in the nation’s maritime domain.
Receiving a team of naval officers led by the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Oladele Bamidele Daji who visited her in Lagos on Wednesday, NPA Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, said her organization was desirous of sustaining its existing collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.
She used the opportunity of the visit to enjoin NPA hydrographers to work with relevant units of the Nigerian Navy.
Usman said NPA was willing “to contribute most meaningfully on the issue of the effective functionality of the Naval Defence jetty”, even as she urged the naval authorities to “take advantage of the NPAs’ simulation center in the training of their staff, especially the naval pilots”.
She also disclosed that plans were afoot to integrate the Navy’s “falcon eye” with NPA’s command and control centre to ensure synergy and operation efficiency.
