The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) said on Tuesday that it was rendering excellent transport services to the people. District Manager, North-Western District of the corporation, Malam Zakari Audu, made this known in Minna during an interview.
“Our passenger and goods trains have been serving the people well.
The corporation is rendering excellent transport services to Nigerians,’’ he said.
Audu urged the people to use the corporation`s services for travelling and goods haulage.
He said that it was the safest and cheapest means of transport in the country, saying that the number of passengers and goods haulage handled by the corporation had increased but could not give the data.
The District Manager said that the corporation had a Mass Transit Train which plies the North-Western District route from Minna to Kaduna and back to Minna thrice weekly.
He said that the train plies the route on Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
Audu said that the corporation had a goods train that carried cement from Lagos to Minna and terminates at Kaduna.
He said that another goods train (container) conveyed goods from Lagos to Kano then loads grains and animal feed back to Lagos.
The District Manager said that an Express Train, known as the Lagos-Kano train, passes through Minna to drop and pick passengers before proceeding to Kano.
The North-Western District of the corporation covers Jebba in Niger to Kaduna.
