The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Anti-Vandal Unit in Edo State on Tuesday said it has destroyed 16 illegal refineries in the last six months.
Commandant of the Corps, Makinde Ayinla, made the disclosure in an interview with journalists in Benin, the state capital.
He said the illegal refineries destroyed included eight in Edo South Senatorial district, six in Edo North and two in Edo Central.
Ayinla also said within the period, about 350,000 litres of illegally refined and adulterated petroleum product was seized and destroyed by the unit.
