Pirates hijack Iranian fishing boat off Somalia

An Iranian fishing boat with 15 crewmembers has been hijacked off the coast of Somalia, according to Neptune Maritime Security.

Neptune said the incident took place some 305 nautical miles off the Somali coast around yesterday while the boat was on its way to Somalia.

The security firm added that there have been reports of several sightings of small skiffs with armed men in the region recently.

Earlier this year, one of the two Iranian dhows, the Jaber, being held by Somali pirates managed to escape Somalia, while the other dhow, the Siraj, is still being held by the pirates.
