A 20-year-old man, identified as Ganiyu Yusuf, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing two phones valued at N78,000 in Apapa.
Yusuf is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and cultism
The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 7, 2019 at about 3pm at No 3, Baale Street, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal two assorted Tecno android phones valued at N78,000 property of one Omojuwa Olusoji,” Babatope said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant managed unlawful society.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 412, 287(f) and 41 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Magistrate Olukayode Kadiri granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till July 29, 2019 for mention.
