Two men namely, Ndubuisi Ebube (20) and Ndubuisi Joshua (22) were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa
Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging a car worth N2.5 million in Lagos.
Ebube and Joshua are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, willful damage, threat to life and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 24, 2018 at about 9pm at No 2, Comfort Street, Maza-Maza, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to willfully and unlawfully destroyed one Hyundai black colour car with registration number SMK 761 CK valued at N2.5 million property of one Ogbere Ngozi,” Onaiwu said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants threatened to eliminate the life of Ngozi.
Onaiwu added that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by inviting some hoodlums to attack the nominal complainant.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 350, 56 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till February 18, 2019 for mention.
