Police arraign two men for stealing empty container

15 Nigerians arrested in Malaysia for fraud 

 

The police on Friday arraigned two men, Okwudili Ogbutia (34) and Chizoba Enyi (31), before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N1.5 million empty container at Apapa.

The duo is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Ferdinand Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 7, 2020 at about 2pm at Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to steal an empty container with number TCLU7970442MOL valued at N1.5 million property of Dekachi International Agency Company,” Asu said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate M.O Olubi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till February 28, 2020 for mention.
