The police on Wednesday arraigned two men before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one tricycle popularly known as ‘Keke Marwa’ valued at N650,000 in Apapa.
The duo, Abuchi Maduka (29) and Chukwuemeka Anthony (29), is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 26, 2019 at about 8:30pm at Itire bus stop, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired to steal one tricycle with registration number AKD 657 QF valued at N650,000 property of one Kazeem Ibrahim,” Bassey said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate Iyabo Ayilara granted them N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
Each surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till September 12, 2019 for mention.
