A 35-year-old truck driver, Ali Bamanga, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N50,000 from the truck owner in Apapa

Bamanga is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 27, 2019 at Okoduwa Street, Kirikiri, Apapa.

“The defendant stole N50,000 property of one Yakubu Joshua,” Bassey said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate Iyabo Ayilara granted him N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till September 10, 2019 for mention.
