The Managing Director of Sanjay Oil and Gas Limited, Sunday Adeola, 47, has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining petroleum products, diesel valued at N12m from two complainants with the pretext to sell and refund the proceeds to them.
He was alleged to have sold the diesel and converted the money to his use.
The arrest of the accused was ordered by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Police Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos, Ibrahim Lamorde following a petition by the complainants.
The accused was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a four-count charge of felony to wit, obtaining goods (petroleum products), diesel under false pretence and forgery.
Police counsel, Chukwu Agwu informed the court in charge No C/10A/2018 that the accused committed the offence in March and April 2017 in Lagos.
Agwu told the court that the accused connived with others still at large to obtained Automated Gas Oil (AGO) valued at N11,003,750 from Erewane Enterprises Limited represented by Joseph Salubi and AGO, Diesel valued at N1,850,000,from Adewumi Oil and Gas Limited represented by Ogunbyi Sayo to sell and make profits and refund the proceeds to the complainants.
Agwu said that after the accused sold the diesel, he failed to fulfill the agreement he had with the complainants and instead converted the proceeds to his use and switched off his phones and escaped before he was arrested at a hideout.
He added that the accused also forged a local purchase order (L.P.O) form bearing Erewane Enterprises Limited with anintent that it may in any way be used or acted upon as genuine to the prejudice of Erewane Enterprises Limited.
Agwu said the offences the accused committed were punishable under sections 409, 312, 363 (2)(b) and 312 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime in the open court and Chief Magistrate A.O Komolafe granted him bail in the sum of N5m with two sureties in like sum.
Komolafe adjourned the case till 27 March 2018 for mention.
