Police arraigns 3 men for peddling Indian hemp in Apapa

Three men namely Abdulraman Animasa, 36, Dele Adeagbo, 39 and Waheed Adebite, 28 were on Tuesday arraigned by the police before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for peddling Indian hemp.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbonna told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 17, 2017 at about 8pm at Whitesand, Trailer Park, Ijora, Apapa.

Ogbonna said the accused were caught having in their possession wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp knowing same to be unlawful.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 329 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

However, Animasa and Adeagbo pleaded not guilty to the charge but Adebite pleaded guilty.

In her ruling, Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted Animasa and Adeagbo bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She adjourned their case till January 18, 2018.

She however adjourned the case for Adebite till December 4, 2017 for facts and sentence.
