Police, Customs kill 11 trans-border bandits

Eleven trans-border armed robbers and their gang leader Tokiwe Joseph alias TK have been killed at the Seme border by the joint security agents from Nigeria and Benin Republic Police after a failed attempt to rob some banks in the area on Thursday.

Addressing journalists on Friday, at the Command headquaters, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni said that the 17-man robbery gang was led by TK to attack banks and bureau-de-change at Seme border but was promptly foiled by security operatives.

The three corpses of the suspected armed robbers including TK, the ring leader, were paraded before taken to the mortuary.

According to Owoseni, TK had been on the wanted list of the Nigeria Police for various crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, cultism, pipeline vandalism and car snatching.

The police boss said, TK has over 200 men which he uses in various operations to carry out his violent crime stressing that he also has properties at Ijegemo and Isawo, Ikorodu in lagos State.

He said, “TK has operated in places like Ogun, ondo, Edo and Republic of Benin. He also intercepts vessels in the Niger/Delta Area, while he shifts his base from one place to another, depending on the operation he wants to carry out “.
