A 42-year-old tanker driver, Adebisi Isiaq and a 37-year-old motorboy, Tajudeen Osaini, were on Thursday arraigned by the Police before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging a flying boat.
Isiaq and Osaini are facing a three-count charge of damage, driving without licence and road worthiness.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 1, 2017 at about 9am along Dockyard Road by LTT Coastal X Marine Services Company, Apapa.
“The defendant, Isiaq, allowed his motorboy, Osaini, to drive an Iveco Truck with registration number, LSR 719 XM, without driving licence and caused damage to a flying boat worth N6 million property of Leadway Assurance and also wasted product of AGO loaded by the tanker worth N5.076 million property of Integrated Osmosis Concept Ltd,” Ekpo said.
The prosecutor also said that Isiaq drove same premises without road worthiness, certificate of insurance, vehicle licence and driver’s licence.
According to him, the offences are punishable under Law No. 4 sections 36, 25 Vol. 25 and 24 Vol. 45 Lagos State Traffic Law 2012.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrates, must be furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till September 26, 2018 for trial.
