The police on Friday arraigned two men, Kazeem Shile (29) and Garuba Muiz (18), before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging a car windscreen, stealing a camera and money in Apapa.
The duo is facing a six-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and willful damage.
The prosecutor, Inspector Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on September 15, 2019 at about 12pm at Amukoko-Ijora, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired with others at large to willfully damage a Toyota Camry car windscreen with registration number EPP 371 CH valued at N75,000 property of one Raji Ibrahim,” Onaiwu said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants stole one photographic camera valued at N85,000 property of one Mufutau Nurudeen and cash sum of N350,000 property of one Tuliat Saheed.
According to the prosecutor, the offences are punishable under sections 350, 287(1), and 287 (1)(3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate O.S Aboiye granted the two defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum. Each surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till October 2, 2019 for mention.
