Police Uncover Sophisticated Indoor Cannabis Farm

A sophisticated indoor cannabis farm, allegedly equipped for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of the drug, has been uncovered inside a residential property in Apapa, Lagos, with a Polish national and a Nigerian arrested in connection with the operation.

The discovery, which points to a suspected drug production facility operating within a residential neighbourhood, was made on Monday following intelligence received by the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspects were identified as 49-year-old Polish national, Thomas Razvickas, and 36-year-old Nigerian, James Chisome.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed the development in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that police operatives found a sophisticated indoor farming facility during a targeted operation at about 8.15am.

According to her, the property housed equipment allegedly designed to support the cultivation, harvesting and processing of substances suspected to be cannabis.

Adebisi said both suspects, who reside at the property, were arrested in connection with the discovery and subsequently taken into police custody.

She added that the suspects had made confessional statements and were providing information considered useful to the ongoing investigation.

“The suspects are currently in police custody, where they have made confessional statements and are providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations,” she said.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, subsequently visited the property to inspect the facility and receive a briefing on the investigation.

Fatai commended the operatives for their vigilance and effective use of intelligence, describing the operation as part of the command’s sustained efforts to combat drug-related offences and dismantle criminal networks across the state.

He also urged residents to support the police by providing credible information about suspicious activities in their communities, assuring them of the command’s commitment to proactive crime prevention and public safety.
