Prepare your handover notes, Shittu tells ANLCA national officers

As the end of his first term in office draws near, National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu, has urged his national officers to get ready to give account of their stewardship.

Shittu, during a National Executive Committee (NECOM) meeting held last Thursday at the ANLCA National Secretariat in Lagos, told his officers that it is necessary they prepare their handover notes in readiness for the next administration.

Coincidentally, the association’s new Board of Trustees has requested an account of the former BoT’s administration.

The new Board members had during their inaugural meeting agreed that records of the immediate past BOT’s six years tenure be made available at the next meeting slated for 5th March, 2014.

The BoT meeting had also resulted in the emergence of an acting coordinator for the Board rather than an election of Board Chairman.

SHIPS & PORTS DAILY learnt that Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, the member with the lowest number of votes among the nine elected board members, was unanimously chosen by the BoT to act as Board Coordinator.

Mustapha, acting as mouthpiece of the highest advisory body, told the association’s NECOM and Western zone chapter executives who were eagerly awaiting the outcome of their closed-in meeting, that pending the election of its principal officers of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary, the Board would be represented by the coordinator.

He said that the Board had also decided that the offices would be on a two year rotational basis.

Mustapha said that the Board would not only play the role of advisory but would be involved in policy formulation.

The new Board Coordinator had also promised the BoT’s readiness to confront operational and welfare challenges of members of the association and proffer solutions to them.
