South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has clinched an order to build four LNG carriers for a US-based shipowner.
The contract for the four newbuildings is worth KRW870 billion ($774 million), SHI said in a brief announcement to the Korean stock exchange.
The new LNG carriers are scheduled to be delivered from the shipyard by 30 September 2022.
In late-January, SHI landed its first order of LNG carrier under a deal to build two units worth KRW419 billion for Celsius Tankers.
SHI has set a new order target of $7.8 billion for this year.
